DIY Beauty Tip: How To Whiten Your Teeth At Home!

DIY TEETH

How to Whiten Your Teeth at Home:

Everyone wants a whiter, brighter smile, BUT everyone doesn’t always have the cash flow to get it done (We’re in the midst of a recession, people…let’s be real). So in the spirit of saving a buck or two, here’s a little DIY tip on how to whiten your teeth at home!

  • Swap your normal mouthwash and use hydrogen peroxide instead. Don’t worry it’s safe, I promise. If you’re still a little apprehensive, mix ½ mouthwash and ½ hydrogen peroxide.
  • Now, swish the liquid around your mouth and through your teeth for a good minute before spitting it out.
  • Once you spit the mixture out, go ahead and rinse your mouth with water to get the taste out. The hydrogen peroxide isn’t too tasty, but whoever said getting beautiful, white teeth was going to be tasty? NOT ME! :O)
  • After rinsing your mouth out, brush your teeth using a baking soda and toothpaste mixture (see recipe below). Brush your teeth for approximately two minutes, just as you do regularly, and then spit it out.

This two step whitening process can be done once per week until you achieve desired results. Once your teeth are good and white, limit yourself to using the treatment once every month or two. Over whitening your teeth can wear down the enamel and make you more susceptible to cavities.

Toothpaste/Baking Soda Recipe:

Supplies:

1 Dixie Cup or small cup

1 tablespoon of toothpaste (any brand will work)

1 teaspoon of baking soda

½ teaspoon of water

Put 1 tablespoon of toothpaste into a small cup, then mix in 1 teaspoon of baking soda and ½ a teaspoon of water. Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients until it is the consistency of a paste and then use it to brush your teeth. This concoction is quite comparable to many of the popular whitening products you find in stores.
